Paola High School senior Johnathan “Trey” Young recently was selected as a recipient of the Rudd Scholarship, and he was surprised with the honor when a big check was handed to him at the high school.
Young was one of 25 students listed as Rudd Scholars by the Rudd Foundation, with each one receiving a four-year college scholarship to attend either Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University or Wichita State University. The scholarship covers all remaining tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board. The expected value for all 25 winners over four years is $1.4 million, according to a news release.
